Jamaica carnival 2026: GenXS launches band theme

KINGSTON, Jamaica —

GenXS has launched its 2026 carnival theme, “INFINITI,” declaring that this season will bring forces and phenomena to life. Marking the band’s fourth season, the presentation signals a powerful year ahead—one built around energy, transformation, and renewal.

Masqueraders will “charge up the road” in nine sections: Aurora, Flare, Flower Bomb, Inferno, Mirage, Nova, Prizm, Spectre, and Volt. The band’s striking, detail-forward costumes were created by an impressive collective of designers, including Shawn Dhanraj, David Dewer, Douglas John, Rhion Romany, and Kriston Milano.

According to our.today, Monét Flowers, marketing manager and creative lead, said: “INFINITI is our boldest creative statement to date. We drew on natural forces and phenomena, from the glow of the Northern Lights to the mystery of a mirage. Every feather, gem, string, and stone is crafted to channel power and confidence on the road.”

For 2026, GenXS is also reinforcing the infrastructure around the experience: Smirnoff returns as title sponsor, alongside partners KFC and Wisynco while the band confirmed its Band House at Sovereign Centre for the season—supporting masqueraders with fittings and service ahead of the road. GenXS also tied the season to recovery efforts, noting that purchasers receive a post-purchase email with access to a Jamaica Relief support link powered by MasOS.

Mala Morrison, band leader and director highlighted: “In a year when communities are still recovering after Hurricane Melissa, the industry restores income for vendors, artists, production crews, hotels, transport, and food services. Last season, Carnival in Jamaica generated over US$8 million in spending. GenXS is focused on pushing that contribution further in 2026 with stronger entertainment, safer staging, and better hospitality, start to finish.”

The season will begin at full volume with GenXS Immortals J’ouvert, themed “Shocking Vibes,” set to deliver the band’s signature high-energy start before GenXS steps into the spotlight for Road March on April 12th, 2026. But in 2026, the message goes beyond celebration and revelry—GenXS is also framing the season as part of a broader national push toward recovery and renewal.
